Orange Juice for Strength

Two glasses of orange juice a day could lower blood pressure and cut your risk of heart disease by 20 per cent, shows a new French study. The University of Auvergne researchers believe a plant chemical – the flavonoid hesperidin – in the juice could help decrease volunteers’ blood pressure.

In the three-stage study, 24 men drank half a liter of orange juice a day for four weeks; then took hesperidin capsules for four weeks, then a placebo pill for four weeks. After both the orange juice and hesperidin stages, the men showed a three to four point reduction in diastolic blood pressure compared to the placebo stage; the researchers say this would reduce the incidence of coronary artery disease by 20 percents.
